First Bus announce Improved punctuality and new services across South Yorkshire

First Bus South Yorkshire has announced network changes for its services across the region starting from 1st September. The changes introduce new services, extra journeys and timetable changes

In a boost to the Sheffield network, First bus announced the launch of there brand new service 47/48 which will operate from Shiregreen, serving Gregg House Rd, Hartley Brook Rd and Sicey Ave - via Firth Park, Firth Park Rd, Firvale, Burngreave, City Centre East Bank Rd, Newfield Green, Hemsworth and Herdings.

Service 48 will operate in the opposite direction via Blackstock Rd, Constable Rd, Raeburn Rd, Leighton Rd, Gleadless Rd.

Further changes to the Sheffield network include an increase in frequency on Service 18/18a between City Centre, Heeley Green and Norton Lees, now operating every 30 minutes, Service 18a will continue to serve Margate Drive and a revised timetable will be introduced to provide a combined hourly service between City and Heeley Green, during the evenings and all-day Sunday.

Along with timetable changes, First Bus have announced a brand-new school service to the Rotherham network with Service 601 from Thomas Rotherham College. The new Service 601 will be introduced between Maltby and Rotherham, running via the X1 route from the Queen's Hotel to Brecks, before continuing to Rotherham via Moorgate Rd, serving Thomas Rotherham College.

Doncaster is also set to see a number of timetable changes to improve bus punctuality and journey experience for customers travelling on services 315, 316, X3 and more.

These changes come as part of a review to improve punctuality and increase reliability as well as creating new links to connect more areas across the region.
