First Bus announce improved frequency and new bus services for Leicester

  • First Bus Leicester announces new services, timetables and improved frequency

From the 25th August, Leicester is set to benefit from service changes across the city that will introduce 9000 extra seats, 180 hours of extra service a week, as well as creating 3 more jobs across the city and new links between Braunstone, Fosse Park and Meridian.

In a boost to the Leicester network, First Bus have announced several enhancements across the city including their brand-new service 4E, which for the first time in over a decade will be providing Customers in Rushey Mead with an hourly evening service.

Further evening journeys have also been announced on service 17 providing links between City Centre and Highfields with additional journeys departing up until 9:00pm.

Another addition to the city will be the brand-new service 19 which will operate along the same route as the service 18 but the 19 will continue on to serve Fosse Park, Meridian Business Park and Thorpe Astley. 

The changes are part of a regular review of routes to better improve journey punctuality and experience by First Bus Leicester and come into action from the 25th August.

Service 4: City Centre - Rushey Mead: New timetable introduced

Service 4E: Great News! We’re introducing an evening service for Rushey Mead

Service 13W: Narborough Road – Optimus Point : Service now starting from Fosse Road North and extended to create links to Beaumont Centre Via New Parks and Glenfield Hospital.

Service 14 14A: City Centre – New Parks – Kirby Frith /Glenfield Hospital : pre-summer holiday timetable will return with the frequency increased

Service 15: City Centre – Goodwood: A new timetable across the whole week has been introduced to help keep buses run on time. 

Service 17: City Centre – Highfields: Introducing some additional evening journeys Monday to Saturday departing at 20:00, 20:30 and 21:00.

Service 18: City Centre – Braunstone : A new timetable is being introduced with the introduction of a new service 19.

NEW Service 19: service 19 which will create links to Fosse Park, Meridian Business Park and Thorpe Astley and compliment service 18.

Service 21: City Centre – Thurmaston: A new timetable across the whole week has been introduced to help keep buses run on time. 

Service 54: City Centre – Beaumont Centre: The last departure from the City Centre each evening at 23:10 will now be extended to serve Anstey. 

Service 74: City Centre – Anstey The pre-summer holiday timetable will return with the frequency increased to every 20 minutes during the main day Monday to Fridays.

Services 88, 88A, 88E: City Centre - Saffron Cross Roads/Eyres Monsell: The pre-summer holiday timetable will return with the frequency increased to every 6 minutes
